  • Obama’s climate czar = Carol Browner (a socialist)

Carol Browner is President-elect Barack Obama’s selection as global warming czar.   Who is this women?   Well up to last week, she was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for “global governance” and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change!

This is very concerning because President-elect Barack Obama claims that global warming will be a priority in his administration.   Meaning of course man-made global warming, which is an unproven theory.   Her appointment will mean that we are on course for companies having punitive limits on particular greenhouse gas emissions, which will impact the consumer’s wallet at the end of the day.  When Obama said change – does he mean – moving this nation towards socialism?

Trust me these carbon taxes will start modestly then gradually increase, thus citizens (mostly the middle-class) will not notice that we are steadily growing poorer (did I ever tell you how to cook a frog?).  Be concerned, be very concerned.

  • First Run for 2009

Well I did my first run for 2009.  I ran around several ponds and near a lake on the other side of town.  The sun was out, a bit of snow on the ground, 36 degrees ( 3°) and there was a slight breeze.   I started the run at the Muriel Hepner Park which is quite lovely.   My pace was slow and steady - but that’s ok, I wasn’t trying to break any records today.

  • My schedulehalf-marathon

In order to reach my goal of running a half-marathon I need a schedule, therefore I modified this one which I found online to fit my needs.   March 21st would be the half-marathon date.

  • Physicist Dr. Will Happer: Global Warming Alarm ‘Mistaken’

    harper

Perhaps you have read about the Award winning Princeton University Physicist Dr. Will Happer, who was fired by former VP Al Gore back in 1993 for failing to hold to Gore’s “scientific” views, has now declared man-made global warming fears “mistaken.”

Quote:   “I am convinced that the current alarm over carbon dioxide is mistaken,”

Happer, who has published over 200 scientific papers, told EPW (US Senate Committee on Environment Public Works) on December 22, 2008. Happer made his remarks while requesting to join the 2008 U.S. Senate Minority Report from Environment and Public Works Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK) of over 650 (and growing) dissenting international scientists disputing anthropogenic climate fears.

Note: Joining Happer as a new addition to the Senate report, are at least 10 more scientists, including meteorologists from Germany, Netherlands and CNN, as well as a professors from MIT and University of Arizona.

  • Goals for 2009

Last night the girls and I stayed up to sing and pray in the New Year. (Jennifer tried to stay up – but she had a long trip back from Florida and was exhausted.)  We sung psalm 90 and followed this with a prayer of thankgiving and praise.   The girls (especially Megan) was totally exhausted – but they had a great time.

This year, Lord willing, I have the following goals for 2009:

    1. Memorize all of Psalm 119:1-176 in the Scottish Psalter.

    2. Spend at least 10 minutes more praying for others, and reading the Bible.

    3. Volunteer at a local charity, nursing home or some other charitable activity.

    4. Donate blood every two months throughout 2009.

    5. Lose 20 more pounds

    6. Run a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles/21 km)

    7. Go parachuting for the first time.

    8. Relearn my old Tae Kwon Do Forms.

    9. Study to take the PMP exam to advance my career.

    10. Work harder to keep tabs on birthdays and anniversaries of those in my family.

    11. Continue hiking with my family, even as their schedules get more complicated.  Do at least one hike in another state.

    12. Turn off the TV at least an hour more, each week, and encourage more family type activities.

    13. Continue practicing Bagpipes and Drums with the girls – and purchase a set of bagpipes.

    14. Spend more alone time with the wife.   Read together or work on a project together in the evening.
