  • First Run for 2009

Well I did my first run for 2009.  I ran around several ponds and near a lake on the other side of town.  The sun was out, a bit of snow on the ground, 36 degrees ( 3°) and there was a slight breeze.   I started the run at the Muriel Hepner Park which is quite lovely.   My pace was slow and steady - but that’s ok, I wasn’t trying to break any records today.

  • Wow, amazing how the technology ASSISTS you with this!!! Neat aerial pic.

  • It is cool and also helpful.    Normally I would have to drive the car around in order to measure a run – and then stick with the same running location over and over again.  Gets a little boring.

Now with this online utility: http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/  I can find or create my own route and then with my GPS device I can know (within 20 feet) when I hit my targeted distance.     It certainly has made the logistics easy, and the new areas make the running more enjoyable.
